Marc's 2004 Highland Grounds Birthday Show

What a great night April 17th having friends like Quincy, Jason Dean and Maureen Davis playing and singing with me to make this night very special. We did a lot of "winging it" when a few friends had unexpected things like my good  buddy Cooper "being detained at the Canadian border" Thomson and a new baby (Tom & Cory Chappell...Congrats) thrown into the mix. We got by throwing caution to the wind and a nice impromptu set by the fabulous Quincy. Here are many of the highlights of the night....

Quincy  started the evening off with a brand new song called "Never Happy" and then followed it up with a very cool version of her "On Your Side," where she called me up to help out on harmonies. It got even better when she played one of my personal favorites "Blown Away."
There is one song on her new album that is getting attention called "I'm Crying" and I think this live version really gives the emotional highs and lows a good run for the money. She finished her set with Fred Neill's "Everybody's Talking" from the movie Midnight Cowboy. Check out her record, you will not be disappointed.

Then it was my turn. I began my set with "Think Too Much," with some help from Quincy. My personal highlight was when Quincy sand a new song of mine called "Desperate But Not Defeated." The set moved along a bit and Jason Dean joined us for "If You Throw It All Away," which was co-written with Cooper Thomson.  Here's one of two solo efforts: "Gets Harder All The Time." Jason came back up and really ripped with me on "Hard To Take" with a little Soft Cell thrown in. Maureen Davis joined us for Jason's "Lucky" and we rounded the evening out with an old Daisy Glaze (a band I was in with Jason and Maureen many years ago) song called "Send A Miracle"

This was a very fun evening and I am thankful to my friends and family for the support. The people at Highland Rich Brenner, Mike Isenberg (who recorded these tracks gratis), as well as Matthew and McCarthy have always been cam padres. Hope you like what you hear. Thanks also to Anita Marto for video taping the proceedings.
