Harvest Explosion - Live at Highland Grounds June 17, 2006

Featuring The Golddust Mannequins, Jef Scott & Marc Platt

We had a great night and a fantastic crowd for this one-time show featuring the full-length live rendering of the Neil Young classic "Harvest." One funny little thing before you start listening to the live tracks. We had a rehearsal the day of the show at a Hollywood rehearsal hall and some of the people who worked there were standing outside our door practically the entire time we were getting this set together. One of the guys walked in and said he was a huge Neil Young fan and was bummed that he couldn't come down. Another guy came up to us when we were loading out and asked us if we were the "Neil Young" guys. That was funny....

The show began with Marc handling the vocals on Out On The Weekend with Chance on bass and harmonica. Jesse played slide guitar and Jef played drums.

Next up was Jesse who sang the title track Harvest. Chance moved over to piano and Jesse handled bass.

Chance stayed at the piano for a solo rendition of A Man Needs A Maid. Not an easy song to play or sing. Well done.

Anyone familiar with this album knows that Heart Of Gold is the next cut on the disc. Marc sang, with Jesse handling slide guitar. Chance played bass on this track

.

Are You Ready For The Country was definitely a highlight of this set. Jesse sang his ass off and Chance blazed on slide guitar, while Jef pounded away on the skins. Marc played bass.

Marc did his thing singing Old Man. Chance grabbed the bass for this one and Jef Scott sang the harmony.

There's A World was beautifully sung by Chance and Jesse.

We then kicked into high gear with Alabama. Marc played bass, while Chance and Jesse blazed their electric guitars. Chance handled lead vocals on this one.

Most people's favorite song on the "Harvest" album is The Needle And The Damage Done. Let me tell you that Jesse sang this song perfectly with some nice guitar work by Chance.

If you want to hear some amazing guitar work by the Golddust Mannequins, then you might want to click on this rockin' version of Words (Between the Lines of Age). Jef Scott ripped on the skins and Marc handled the bass.
