           Sometimes
        (Written by Marc Platt)

Sometimes good people do bad things
Try so damn hard to be everything to everyone

Stole your trust then I broke your heart
Was a fool, yeah I played the part

Sometimes good people do bad things
It's the way of the real world with no in between

Looked in the mirror found no excuse
Sought forgiveness and revealed the truth

Tried my best to even the score
Seems I've been down this road before
Sometimes, Sometimes....

Left a trail of shattered dreams
Tried self loathing and it's a real bad scene

Sometimes, Sometimes...
Sometimes good people do bad things
Sometimes good people do bad things
Do bad things
They do bad things.

      A Song For Elliott
          (Written by Marc Platt)

Elliott - For Elliott
The end came too soon
Elliott - For Elliott
Life was like a bittersweet tune

We all have our sad story
And we’ve all felt that pain
Damage runs deep and we hide away
Reminds me of poor Kurt Cobain

Elliott – Poor Elliott
Could never escape your head
Elliott – Poor Elliott
And how they love you when you’re dead

We never got the chance to thank you
You left the party before dawn
And now you won’t just be Remembered For your sad sweet song

Elliott – Elliott
Wish I could have called you my friend
Elliott – Elliott
No one really knew you in the end

    Gets Harder All The Time

(Written by Marc Platt)

Be my heart and be my soul
Be forgiving when things don't go
Your way, or mine
Gets harder all the time

Easy to say we've got what it takes
No one's perfect we all make mistakes
All the time

Gets harder all the time

Oh that road isn't kind
So don't be looking for an easy time
Just ease your mind
And I'll ease mine

Waited so long and now you're here
But that doesn't mean we're safe from tears
Oh no
Gets harder all the time

Oh that road isn't kind
So don't be looking for an easy time
Just ease your mind
And I'll ease mine

   "Pickin' Up The Pieces"
          (Written by Jef Scott)

Round spinning dizzy
A poor man's symphony
If God can hear me now
Please show me in the sky

Fly fly if you love her let her fly
Just pickin' up the pieces now
Don't worry about the pain somehow
Just pickin' up the pieces now

If I had you at all it was better than nothing
You were something yes you were

Distance romance
Lays on the ocean floor
How am I today never can tell
which way the

Sun shines if you love her let her fly
Just pickin' up the pieces now
Don't worry about the pain somehow
Just pickin' up the pieces now

If I had you at all it was better than nothing
You were something yes you were

Fly fly if you love her let her fly
Just pickin' up the pieces now
Don't worry about the pain somehow
Just pickin' up the pieces now

Troubled Friend
             (Written by Marc Platt)

Are you gonna flame out
Like the best and brightest often do
There's little room left here in this great big world for another one quite like you

My troubled friend
How will it all end
Does any cloud have a silver lining?
My troubled friend

Will you leave your best work on the barroom stool?
Or are you gonna fade away?
And when that little one looks in your eyes
At the end of another long day

My troubled friend
How will it all end
Just lay your head on that pillow and sleep
My troubled friend

Dream at night
Close your eyes
The world will still be there
When you rise

My troubled friend
How will it all end
You'll still be here when the smoke all clears
My troubled friend

          Hard To Take
             (Written by Marc Platt)

I tried to let go of my childish ways
But I could not let go of you
I tried to be someone I could stand
Not much else I could do

*You caught me on the way down
You caught me when I was
sprawled out on the ground
And I find it hard to take
With every move I make
Leaves me one step behind
Try to own it but I know it’s mine
I find it hard to take

Tried to let go of my childish dreams
But that would make me untrue
Tried to shut it down,  it’s harder than it seems
Always leads me to you

 (chorus)

Will you be on my side?
So little time and so much to hide

Tried to let go of the one thing I love the most
Now I’m back for more
I let the song take me where it wants to go
Leads me to your door

 (chorus)

If You Throw It All Away
Written by  Marc Platt & Cooper Thomson

Recorded by Mike Isenberg at Highland Grounds 3/4/04

You better believe in something
You’re running out of time
Cause nothing’s ever easy
When You’re feeling half alive

 *When You’re feeling half alive
With one foot in the grave
And nothing is the answer
When you try to act so brave
It’s so easy to do
When there’s nothing left to save
And the answers don’t come easy
If you throw it all away
Throw it all away

You can hardly stand the silence
Makes you feel almost dead
You dream of angels all around you
Yeah they’re dancing in your head

*

Pressure’s all around us
Heart attacks and ice
Cracking in a chorus
Of summer loving lies

 *

"Off In The Distance"
(Written by Marc Platt)

Off in the distance
A young boy stares
Thinks of a mother who was taken to God

Off in the distance
He keeps to himself

Doesn't like to reach out
Never asking for help

She is still in his mind
But she is so hard to find
Can't remember the sound of her voice
He tries to keep her memory alive

Off in the distance
He graduates school
Meets a girl settles down and it all falls
through

Off in the distance
He thinks about life
And how everything changes Everything changes

She is still in his thoughts
When the burdens are too much to bear
He's still up on that cross
Wonders if anyone really cares

Off in the distance and so long ago
He stood at the top of the stairs and never said goodbye

Off in the distance
A
young man believes In forgiveness and what is right

She is still in his mind
But she is so hard to find
Can't remember the sound of her voice
He tries to keep her memory alive...alive

   Some Life
             (Written by Marc Platt)

People keep drifting in and out of my life
Mother and girlfriends and even a wife
I never even took the time to notice
This is really some life

All this time living in fear
I began to disappear
I tried to be someone I didn't know
So I shut it all right down and
Opened a new door
This is really some life

This is the only life I know
And what have I really got to show
Is just this picture of a man
A Man I used to be
He really isn't someone
I wanted to be
This is really some life

gotta chance to get it right
Gotta feeling deep inside
I've got a second chance coming to me
So I'm taking advantage of every
Opportunity
This is really some life
This is really some life

Reinventing the Wheel
This album is dedicated to all songwriters and musicians who believe that the song is king. These are the stripped down bare-boned guitar/vocal versions of these songs. I relied on the performances to get me through. There are a few instrumentals sprinkled in that were written and recorded many years ago. Many thanks to Ian Talcroft, Cooper Thomson, Jon Coco, Mike Isenberg and Justin McCartney
. Thanks also to Dina Woolums.
