Marc Platt & Lisa Nemzo at Highland Grounds Saturday July 23, 2005 Lisa and I first met at Highland Grounds in 1993 and struck up a nice friendship. We realized that we were very much alike musically and started writing songs together almost immediately. Over the years we have played many times on each other's sets, many times with our friend Stuart Pearson accompanying us with his odd assortment of instruments. We decided to do this show after 8 years of not playing together. It was quite a night. Save Me Now was one of the later songs we wrote together. Lisa had most of the song written and I helped a little with one of the verses and wrote the bridge with her. She Says Stop was the second song we wrote. This one is about another girl I dated who we both knew. This girl happened to use me for my music. It didn't work out, but we got a great song out of it. Little Blue Car was the first song we wrote together. It was also the first time Lisa and I processed about one of our relationships gone awry. This time is was me. In fact Stuart (who plays accordion on this live version) dated the young lady in question about a year after she and I parted ways. Don't You Walk Away was the first song I ever heard Lisa play and it is still my very favorite of her songs. I love singing and playing with her on this song. I'll Do Anything is one of my 'co dependent' tunes. I was head over heals about a girl who ended moving back east. Lisa sang on the original recording. Back Where We Started is a brand new song penned by myself and the lovely Deanna Pino. The Last Straw is one of Lisa's newer songs. I love the richness of her baritone guitar. Let It Go was originally recorded for my 'Love And Truth' album in Lisa's old apartment in Culver City on her little 8-track. Goodbye To You was our statement about saying goodbye to all the crap in our lives. At the time we were both particularly fed up with out music careers. This song was recorded twice, the second time was for Lisa's wonderful 'Restless Soul' record. I'm No Longer Guilty is the bookend song that was written for 'Restless Soul.' This one was written mostly by Lisa (with a Marc Platt bridge) about her relationship with her late father. We finished this set with a rendition of Sheryl Crowe's Strong Enough performed as a duet. Thanks to Stuart Pearson for playing accordion and Portuguese Guitarra at this show.Live Recording by Mike Isenberg © Platt/Nemzo 2005
